Privacy policy

This policy explains how Clr Enver Yasar (referred to as "I", "me", or "the councillor") handles personal information collected through this website (enveryasar.com.au).
This policy is informed by the Australian Privacy Principles (APPs) under the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth). Where Cumberland City Council handles your information directly, the council's own privacy policy applies.
What information I collect
When you use the contact form, I collect:
- Your name
- Your email address
- Your phone number (optional)
- Your suburb (optional)
- The category of your enquiry
- Your preferred reply language
- The content of your message
When you subscribe to the newsletter, I collect your email address and optionally your first name and suburb.
How your information is used
- To respond to your enquiry
- To follow up on local issues you raise with me, including (where you have consented) by sharing details with Cumberland City Council staff or other relevant agencies
- To send you the newsletter (only if you have subscribed)
- To keep an internal record of constituent contact, so I can follow up consistently
I do not sell, rent, or trade your personal information.
How your information is stored
Contact form submissions are delivered to my email inbox via Web3Forms, a contact-form service. They are stored on Web3Forms servers (subject to their privacy policy) and in my email account.
Newsletter subscribers are stored in Mailchimp, subject to Mailchimp's privacy policy.
I take reasonable steps to protect your information from misuse, loss, and unauthorised access.
Cookies and analytics
This site uses Cloudflare Web Analytics, which does not use cookies and does not track individuals across sites. No advertising cookies are set.
Retention
Contact form messages are retained for as long as is reasonably necessary to respond to your enquiry and any follow-up correspondence, typically up to seven years to align with general record-keeping practice for elected representatives. Newsletter subscriptions are retained until you unsubscribe.
Your rights
You may, at any time:
- Request a copy of personal information I hold about you
- Request correction of information that is inaccurate or out of date
- Request deletion of your information (subject to any legal obligation to retain it)
- Unsubscribe from the newsletter (one click in any newsletter email)

Complaints
If you believe your privacy has been breached and the issue isn't resolved by contacting me, you can lodge a complaint with the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner (OAIC) at oaic.gov.au.
