Settlement and multicultural support

Long-running community-based services for new arrivals, refugees, and culturally and linguistically diverse residents.

  1. Accessible Diversity Services Initiative (ADSi)

    Community-based non-profit (est. 1996) supporting recent migrants, humanitarian entrants, refugees, women, youth, seniors, people with disabilities, and people at risk of homelessness across the Cumberland LGA. Formerly Auburn Diversity Services.

  2. Auburn Asian Welfare Centre (AAWC)

    Long-running community welfare service for CALD communities - casework, family support, financial crisis support, emergency relief and settlement information.

  3. Cumberland Multicultural Community Services (CMCS)

    Family services, school support, financial counselling, settlement, energy and water bill assistance across the Cumberland LGA.

  4. Settlement Services International (SSI)

    National not-for-profit running settlement, refugee, employment and community engagement programs. Operates the Friendship Garden in Auburn in partnership with Cumberland Council.

  5. STARTTS

    NSW Service for the Treatment and Rehabilitation of Torture and Trauma Survivors. Specialist counselling and community programs for refugees, with an Auburn outreach office.

  6. Auburn Small Community Organisation Network (ASCON)

    Peak network for small multicultural community organisations in the Auburn region. Partners with Cumberland Council on Flavours of Auburn.

  7. Western Sydney Migrant Resource Centre (WSMRC)

    Casework, family support, disability, employment (MiWork), multicultural playgroups and community leadership programs. Based in Liverpool; serves Western Sydney including Cumberland.

Religious and cultural community

Major faith and cultural community centres in the ward and adjoining suburbs.

  1. Auburn Gallipoli Mosque

    Ottoman-architecture mosque and major Turkish-Australian community landmark. Friday prayers draw 2,000+. Hosts community programs and interfaith activity.

  2. St Joachim's Catholic Parish

    Catholic parish established 1885 - the Catholic parish for Lidcombe. Runs the adjacent St Joachim's Catholic Primary School.

  3. Sri Mandir Hindu Temple

    Australia's first Hindu temple (est. 1977). Major community hub for the Hindu community of Western Sydney.

  4. Berala Uniting Church

    Uniting Church congregation with multilingual services in English, Korean, Tongan and Fijian.

    2–8 Tilba Street, Berala.
  5. Gallipoli Turkish Cultural Foundation

    Programs connecting Turkish-Australian and wider Cumberland communities to settlement services, language support and cultural events. Clr Yasar is the Foundation's Community Programs and Engagement Lead.

Sport, youth and community clubs

  1. Auburn Youth Centre

    Independent charity (est. 1986) supporting young people aged 12–24 - counselling, education, recreation, music studio, training kitchen and cafe. Based inside Wyatt Park.

  2. Lidcombe Waratah FC

    Local football (soccer) club established 1938. Home ground Coleman Park, Berala.

  3. Berala Bears Junior Rugby League

    Junior rugby league club with home ground at Guilfoyle Park, Regents Park. Listed in Cumberland Council's Sport and Recreation Club Directory.

  4. Auburn-Lidcombe Lions Club

    Local chapter of Lions Australia, part of the Sydney/Norfolk Island district.

Civic engagement and legal support

  1. Australian Political Engagement Network (APEN)

    Non-partisan community initiative helping young Australians and CALD communities understand and participate in Australian democracy. Founded by Clr Yasar.

  2. Macquarie Legal Centre

    Community legal centre covering Western Sydney including Cumberland. Services include AVOs, consumer, credit and debt, family law, tenancy, traffic, wills and elder law.

Other elected representatives

Regents Park Ward is split between two federal electorates - Blaxland and Reid. If your issue is state or federal, your local MP is the right starting point.

  1. Jason Clare MP - Federal Member for Blaxland

    Federal Member covering Auburn, Berala, Regents Park, Rookwood and most of Lidcombe. Currently Minister for Education in the Albanese Government.

  2. Sally Sitou MP - Federal Member for Reid

    Federal Member covering the northern/eastern slice of Lidcombe (alongside Strathfield, Homebush and Concord).

  3. Lynda Voltz MP - State Member for Auburn (NSW)

    State Member representing Auburn, Regents Park, Lidcombe and Berala in the NSW Legislative Assembly. Clr Yasar is the Senior Electorate Officer in her office.

  4. Cumberland City Council - all fifteen councillors

    Cumberland Council has five wards and fifteen councillors. Clr Yasar is one of three councillors elected to represent Regents Park Ward.

  5. Find your federal electorate

    Lidcombe is split between Blaxland and Reid. Use the Australian Electoral Commission postcode lookup to confirm which electorate covers your address.
